Technical Case Study
Lagos - Calabar Coastal Road Construction
Lagos Coastal Corridor • Ongoing
Operational Excellence & Execution
Client: Hitech Construction Company Limited
Year: 2024 - 2026
Challenge
The Lagos—Calabar Coastal Highway traverses one of the most geotechnically challenging terrains in Nigeria. The alignment sits on soft, swampy, and unstable ground, requiring extensive soil replacement and stabilization before construction can proceed. The project required 3—5 meters of deep sand filling to achieve a stable foundation. Highly compacted subsurface materials slowed dredging productivity. The long distance from the ocean required dredging to be executed within the host community's waterways. Complex environmental and community dynamics added further challenges in marshland zones.
Solution
ElinOil and Gas Services deployeda precision-controlled dredging operation along the Lagos section of the coastal corridor executed understrict environmental management and continuous stakeholder engagement. Our approach featured accurate dredging and pumping tailored to compacted materials, environmentally compliant operations across sensitive ecological zones, robust community liaison systems enabling uninterrupted progress, and high-efficiency equipment and techniques aligned withthe project's aggressive schedule. As one of thevery few companies entrusted with this strategic national undertaking, we continue to deliver with consistency, technical depth, and reliability.
Impact
We successfully completed over 5 km of dredging andsand supply within one year of engagement. We delivered large volumesof high-quality sandrequired for deep foundation stabilization of the coastal highway. Weestablished Elin Oil andGas Services as one ofthe foremost partners supporting this historic infrastructure development. We sustained operations despite complex soil conditions, difficult access routes, and sensitive community environments. We are continually advancing dredging progress as the project moves toward full-scale construction.
